When it helps

Turn small improvement opportunities into controlled experiments with baseline, action and confirmed result.

Data and preparation

Problem/opportunity, baseline, hypothesis, action, metric, result and standard

Practical workflow

  1. Scope the problem and baseline.
  2. Form a small testable change.
  3. Run the experiment with controlled risk.
  4. Compare with baseline and side effects.
  5. Standardise if effective or document learning if not.

Connection to AIAG

This is a supporting Continuous Improvement method, not an AIAG Core Tool. In QAPP, findings can feed a CQI-20/8D problem-solving workflow and, when the process risk/control changes, trigger review of PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA/SPC or other applicable Core Tool records.

Interpretation limits

Do not use the tool as a ritual. Define a measurable problem, baseline and decision rule, then verify whether the change improved the process without creating another risk.
